“I was honored to spend my time as an intern with the Office of the Child Advocate. Not only was I able to observe and learn much about the nuances of the child welfare system in the state of Rhode Island, but I was energized by the passion and commitment to advocating on behalf of the children in state care embodied by the staff of this office. I was allowed the freedom to pursue projects that I felt were meaningful to both myself and the population this office serves. The skills and connections I developed in my time as an intern at the OCA have and will continue to serve me well as a professional in the nonprofit sector.”

“My favorite part about this externship experience was the variety that it offered. Each day offered a something different. It was really helpful to have this kind of experience while I am still in school so that I could try different things and figure out what is the most fulfilling and enjoyable to me. The OCA does incredible work helping the children and the greater RI community in so many different areas. It was truly an honor to get to work with the amazing women at the OCA.” ”
